For Mrtl (and for Jur)

I have been telling Mrtl that, like her, I was considered a Jennifer Grey lookalike as a teenager. I've looked hard for a picture, and though this is not the best that exists, it's the only one I've been able to find. I think it's actually more evidence that Mrtl and I looked alike as teenagers, less that I looked like Jennifer Grey. I have to keep looking for a better picture.

But why did I post this one anyway? And why is the face of the handsome boy with the nice jawline blacked out? The answer to the second question is, to protect the innocent (or the guilty, as the case may be). Because...the answer to the first question is, this is the "camp fling", the brother of my friend "jur", who wrote the letters I used for Stuff Portrait Friday a couple of weeks ago. I thought she would get a kick out of it, as well as the fact that I found it in the same box as her brother's letters, enclosed with a letter she sent me about 17 years ago. No, really, Jur, it really was that long ago. 1988. For real. UN.BE.LIEVABLE. I know.

I think that qualifies Jur as my oldest friend who is still my friend.

Oh the places I can go with this...
First let me point out the pretty little mullet on the boy in question. And the fact that he doesn't have that much hair any more. :)
Then let me say that saying a letter was written 17 years ago is a little hard to swallow. you're right. UN.BE.LIEVABLE. when you can start measuring things in that length of time... Well, you know.
Finally, I must say that I was going through old pictures just today and found some of similar (perhaps a year later) vintage of this particular blogger with other camp friends of various sorts. Ironic that we both ran into such pictures (though I don't think I still have a copy of that one).

oh yeah, and then I wanted to have moment of nostalgia for a youth rally that didn't end so well for a brother and a friend, but the friend was kind enough to be dragged to sit behind the very very cute guy at the sound board. The amusing part was several years later, when I was just starting to date my husband, some very dear friends tried to hook me up with their son, and lo and behold, it was the very same guy... It just didn't work out...

Lonely tree: Thank you! I'm pretty happy with it. Are you asking for my opinion on the poem? Sometimes I feel like I'm burning my candle at both ends, but I don't know how significant the extra light is! And I wish I could read *your* blog, but I don't have much experience with Arabic (I'm only guessing that's what it is, anyway!)

Jur: Harder to swallow for me: that was more than HALF OF MY LIFE ago. You've been my friend for more than half my life!

Mrtl: which contest do I win, looking like you, or like Jennifer Grey? :) I think you looked far more like her, really...

Inadvertently, you got a picture of yourself from the '80s on the Stuff Portrait Day with the '80s theme.

Long friendships are great.
I love your curly hair, no matter who you look like.

You do look like her! He, however, does not look like Patrick Swayze. :-)

It does look like Jennifer Grey! And the guy's jawline, height and hairstyle DO resemble Swayze.
