Flash THIS

S.O.S.

I think I have mentioned before that I am a closet gamer. I don't have so much time as a parent, so I'm not one of those people who don't eat, sleep, or use the bathroom because they are so deep into the game. But I do love me a good room escape game (I can usually get through one in an evening after the kids are in bed), fun point-and-click stuff like Mysteries of Time and Space or Hapland, and I am a HUGE Myst fan (though not to the point that I know all the deep background story...I just love to play the game).

Which is why I'm extremely annoyed right now. A very cool source of room escape games* has had a new game out since about January...and I have not been able to play it. Why? Apparently it's because I don't have the latest version of Flash (which, I believe, is v. 8 point something-or-other). It's not for lack of trying. For months, I've been going to download, and I get the graphic that says it's successfully downloaded AND installed, but lo and behold, when I go back and try to play the game (and others), nothing doing.

I'm not a true computer geek, because I generally just fake my way around. I'm not afraid to play with settings, but I don't always know why I'm doing something. I've done a little searching, though, and I can't even verify that Flash is sitting in my hard drive anywhere.

Today I tried again to download Flash (I know, slow learner, eh?), but I didn't even get the little video that says it's been installed. I have been going through game after game on the site I frequent that lists all the new ones, and at least 50% of the new ones I cannot play because of this problem.

So I'm begging: Does anyone out there know how to help me? Real life friend or long-time lurkers, all are welcome to comment. If you are able to successfully help me install Flash, I will sing your praises publicly here...and maybe even send you some yummy chocolate pumpkin muffins I found a recipe for. Yeah, I know it's spring, but trust me: these muffins are to die for. Or to help a not-so-geeky blogger for.

If you can help, e-mail me at andreabt1970NOSPAM at hotmailDIESPAMMERSDIE dot com.

*A room escape game is one in which you are a Japanese man who has gotten drunk, passed out, and woken up in a locked room with no apparent way out. Your job is to figure out HOW to get out. There is, with few exceptions, always a bed in the room with a pillow that may or may not have a clue under it, and a trash can, which may or may not have a clue in it or under it.
