STREP!
Audrey went to school with a little crackle in her voice. Some mornings she just wakes up like that, but if there's no fever, what can you do? So I sent her, but we didn't even have time to pop a ColdEeze.
Her throat was still crackly and sore when she got home, and she was starting to cough a little. She napped a little on the sofa, and then we all went out to go to C_, with many things we needed to do: grab some dinner, send Audrey to AWANA, take some stuff to the house, do a little furniture shopping. Halfway through dinner, Audrey started looking really, really puny, and I felt her forehead. HOT. So no AWANA. All the furniture stores were closed anyway, so we quickly dropped stuff off at the house, picked up some packing boxes from a Chinese restaurant Leo has some connections with, and went straight home, stopping at CVS to get some children's Tylenol and cough medicine (because all of ours was not only packed, but already at the house, and did it occur to me to crack that box open? Of course not.)
After we got home and got her settled, I saw the light on the answering machine was blinking. It was my friend G, whose daughter M is Audrey's best friend. G and her whole family have strep, most of them for at least the second or third time in a few weeks, so she was telling me in case Audrey was showing symptoms. Um, like a fever? Or sore throat?
We are SO at the doctor's office tomorrow. I'm hoping he'll give all four of us strep tests, so if necessary, we can all start our lovely antibiotics together. With any luck, even if Leo and I have it, we'll be half over it before we feel our first symptom. I grabbed a ColdEeze as soon as I finished listening to the message, and I think I'll down some vitamin C when that's gone.
I can handle Audrey being sick. I really can. She's at her easiest when she's sick. She can camp out on the sofa in front of the TV while we finish packing. And even if Aislinn comes down with it, we'll live. But WE. ARE. MOVING. This weekend. Half of our stuff is already there, mostly kitchen stuff, including ALL MY TEA AND HONEY.
We are moving this weekend!! Do you hear me????

ACK! You're moving--you're pregnant--and you have a sicko in the house! Hopefully all will go well?!
(I'm 23-1/2 weeks pregnant too-- due on Jan. 7! My belly-button popped out last week! How are you feeling?)
And a question (from your comment on Susie's site)--any other fun things i can do while preggers that you've heard of? Mehndi tatt's would be cool--but not for me...
Hey, congrats, Effie! I'm not sharing the exact due date with anyone but Leo, but I'll at least say you're likely to go before me! I'm holding it together a little more today. Dr. appointment for kids this afternoon.
Ever heard of belly casting? You use plaster of paris to make a cast of your belly. Some people paint them. I've never done this...personally, though I appreciate my belly in that it must get this way to have a healthy babe, I don't really want such a huge reminder of it! The other thing I'd really like to do is get some good, professional photographs. I know, sounds weird after what I said about the cast, but the ones I've seen have been so gorgeous and tastefully done.
I've seen some really beautifully done professional photos but I have so many marks/rashes right now, I doubt I'll do it! My hubby caught a lovely photo of me on the couch last night though--grr!
